Supporting Community Cats

South Austin Cat Hospital strongly supports Trap Neuter Return (TNR) efforts for outdoor living community cats. Effective TNR programs provide a means to manage outdoor populations of cats and reduce the number of cats in our city’s animal shelters.

TNR programs also reduce the spread of disease by providing vaccinations to cats who otherwise would not be seen by a veterinarian.

🐱 What is TNR?

Trap, Neuter, Return is a humane approach to managing community cat populations. Cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and returned to their outdoor home.

πŸ’œ Why It Matters

TNR stabilizes colony populations over time, reduces shelter intake, prevents the spread of disease, and improves the quality of life for community cats.

πŸ“ Local Services

The Austin Humane Society provides TNR services for free for community cats in Travis County, and at a reduced cost for surrounding areas.
